Another helpful innovation from Internet Explorer

If an add-on is hosing Internet Explorer, you have to run Internet Explorer WITH ADD-ONS ENABLED in order to manage your add-ons.
McAfee Site Advisor is completely hosing a friend’s Acer Aspire. I advised installing Firefox, and somehow Site Advisor even glommed itself onto Firefox. The key difference is that Firefox start up items can be selectively disabled when Firefox is running in Safe Mode. Not so with IE. It’s all or nothing.
